Hanley was hurt last year and it definitely hurt the team. I believe he will turn into an average 1st baseman, but what will help is, if he stays healthy, he wlll help the Red Sox win games with his bat. Except for the 1st month last year, he was a liability all the way around. A healthy Hanley, can do nothing but help. Go Sox

Exactly on target. Hanley may never have learned to track a fly ball to LF, but it was his shoulder injuries that turned his prodigious Offense through May 4 into that below average number for 2015. Not only the odds, but the team's hopes are on a good year from Hanley.
The very good news is that behind Hanley the Sox have Shaw, Holt and an intriguing Travis offering solid offense and defense. All four are already, in ST, showing how lucky we are to have them.

Wow, I am kind of stunned that this comparison between those two completely ignores the fact that Hanley was hurt last year. While we don't know, how long he was playing hurt and how much it played into his performance, it can't really be reflected in the numbers and projections used in this comparison.

Therefore the article comes to the right conclusion imo. But an even stronger argument coud and maybe should be made for Hanley based on the fact that he's expected to be healthy again.

Walt, it's either speculating about Hanley and Panda or prognosticating about Buchholz and Porcello. That's all there is for another three and a half weeks.
