The best investment there is now is getting a reliever, the amount of great Prospects coming back to a team in July is amazing.
You sign Jansen, lose a pick, but if you Trade Kimbrel in July you could get some great ones back.
Or sign Chapman and just pay the money. 3 top relievers in FA, Sox should go for one.
The way Baseball has changed with the 100 pitch Count, the Bullpen is just as important as Starters.
A Reliever who can be effective more than 1 Inning, is the way to go.

He also lacks the track record of those other arms mentioned. I went back and forth on whether this was enough for Jones, so your point that it’s an underpay is well taken, but I don’t think it’s too crazy. Swihart for Frazier alone would be too much for the Red Sox to pay, imo.

I like the Frazier for Swihart but no way is Jones a throw in. Look at what the Giles, Miller, Chapman and Kimbrel all brought back. Jones is up there in the reliever value.

HELP the Red Sox starting Pitching Rotation by trading Pomeranz and Bucholz for a real starter, not a lets hope I can win starter with high ERA’s . 2017 Rotation is very very weak and unreliable.
