Santana’s offensive value has peaked already and has been on the decline since 2013 while Hosmer just enjoyed his best season yet. Age difference, traditional first base size, and leadership all play in Hosmer’s favor. I’d be shocked if Santana is the guy. Good player but doesn’t strike me as a Dombrowski target.
